[VIDEO] Fibrenew and AMMO NYC Team Up on this Vintage Mercedes 300CD Diesel Make Over

We were so happy to be part of another project with our buddy, Larry, from AMMO NYC. He called us in to do interior repair and re-dye work on this classic 1978 Mercedes 300CD Diesel.

Fibrenew franchisees, Scott Neal and Daniel Schartzman lent their skills to the project, and the before and after results of the whole project were so so good!

Scott and Daniel’s cameo appears at about the 25:00 mark:

Properly cleaning a car’s interior FAQ

Cleaning the interior of your car is vital for maintaining its appearance and value. Below is a simplified FAQ that can help you with the cleaning process.

How often should I clean the interior of my car?

At a minimum, the interior should be cleaned every month, but you may need to clean it more often if your car is used frequently, subjected to dirty conditions, or if you have children or pets.

What should I use to clean the dashboard and other plastic parts?

Answer: Use a microfiber cloth and a mild cleaning solution specifically designed for automotive plastics. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials as they can damage the surface.

How do I clean car upholstery?

Vacuum the seats first to remove loose dirt. For fabric seats, use a suitable upholstery cleaner and follow the instructions on the label. For leather seats, use a leather cleaner and conditioner to maintain suppleness.

How can I remove stains from the carpet or seats?

For carpets, use a specialized carpet cleaner and a brush to gently scrub out the stain, then dab with a clean, damp cloth. For seats, use an appropriate cleaner for the material (fabric or leather) and follow the product instructions.

How can I clean the car windows without leaving streaks?

Use a glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth. Wipe in a circular motion and then with a vertical, then horizontal motion to avoid streaks. Avoid cleaning in direct sunlight to reduce streaking.

Can I use household cleaners to clean the interior of my car?

It’s best to avoid most household cleaners as they can be too harsh for the materials used in car interiors. Use automotive-specific cleaners, as they are formulated to be safe for your vehicle’s surfaces.

How do I clean the air vents?

Use a foam paintbrush or a specialized vent brush to remove dust from the vents. If necessary, slightly dampen the brush with a mild cleaning solution.

Can I use a steam cleaner for the interior?

Yes, a steam cleaner can be an effective way to clean and sanitize many interior surfaces including upholstery, carpets, and hard surfaces. However, avoid using it on electronic components, and ensure surfaces are properly dried afterward.

How to remove odors from the car interior?

Clean all surfaces thoroughly and remove any trash or other odor sources. Baking soda can help neutralize odors—sprinkle it on the carpets and seats, let it sit for a few hours, then vacuum it up. Commercial air fresheners or odor eliminators can also be used.

How do I maintain a clean car interior?

Reminder:

Always read and follow the instructions on any cleaning product labels, and test any new product in an inconspicuous area first to ensure it does not damage the material. Also, make sure to check your vehicle’s manual for any specific cleaning instructions or restrictions related to your car’s make and model.
